LIVE: From Compliance to Ethics: IDEA in School-Based OT and PT Practice
DESCRIPTION:
This 2-hour course explores how IDEA (2004) compliance and ethical decision-making intersect in school-based occupational therapy and physical therapy practice. Participants will review the role of OT and PT practitioners as related service providers, the IEP process, and IDEA’s six core principles. Through real-world examples and relevant case law, the course examines common ethical tensions among educational law, professional standards, and state licensure requirements, with practical strategies for maintaining professional integrity while supporting student participation and access to the general education curriculum.

This MAOT-approved two-hour webinar is designed to meet the Massachusetts* OT/OTA and PT/PTA licensure renewal requirement for two hours of ethics and jurisprudence continuing education, with a focus on issues directly relevant to school-based practice.
